The discussion formed part of the Courts under Political Pressure panel at the inaugural European Political Science Society (EPSS) Conference, held in Belfast from 18 to 20 June 2026. On the opening day, Joan-Josep Vallbé, Kálmán Pócza, Gábor Dobos and Attila Gyulai shared "Exploring Assertiveness: How Institutional Architecture and Political Dynamics Shape Constitutional Court Behavior." Their ruling-level data and comparative models identified conditions under which constitutional courts are more likely to act assertively.
